Marina R is a filmmaker and art photographer. She holds a Master’s degree in Film Production and has produced and directed several short films and music videos. She has also been the Director of Photography for a number of short films using 16mm film cameras as well as DSLRs.

Inspired by the work of most French New Wave filmmakers and experimental artists such as Maya Deren, Luis Buñuel, Zbigniew Rybczyński, Isaac Julien, and David Lynch, Marina has always been fascinated by the moving image, its aesthetic and meaning within the story. An essential objective in Marina’s visual work is to convey a feeling, an emotion, or create an atmosphere with the intention to form a long-lasting impression and possibly trigger some afterthought. One of the main statements in her films is “less is more” - a proverb that, she firmly believes, applies to any type of art production.

Marina’s avid interest in storytelling through images has gradually led her to venture off to still photography and mixed media art. Her fine art photography work has been displayed in various art galleries as well as commercial venues and private homes both in the UK and internationally.
